Mother's day 2009

I had a lovely Mother's day this year and hope you all did too.
Faye made breakfast and then lunch, the sun came out for lunch time and we sat in the garden and enjoyed the warmth.

We popped into TKmax and to my delight in the sale section buried under a mountain of recipe books I found a beautifully illustrated floral book for just £4.00 so i just had to treat myself.

I must try and find my old sketch books for some of my old floral paintings. I might even try and add some newer work.
A present for my mum and one of my Mother's Day cards from our successful Words range, which was an absolute hit this year. Also a card from a fab range by our friends at Trumpers World, I just had to get this and Izzie my mum's black standard poodle gave it to her!

Easter is on its way and the daffodils are popping their little heads and adding wonderful colour where ever you look.

Fortnum & Mason Spring windows

Friday I had to pop into London and visit the passport office, I seem to have miss laid Fayes and my passport, Ops!! And we fly shortly for a quick holiday to Australia but thankfully the passport office do a fast service. But before jumping on the train home I just had to stop by Fortnum & Masons, one of my favorite stores. Their Spring windows are as usual fantastic, full of beautifully made props and dressed with attention to detail.

Windows are such an important part of retail and so many stores do not make the most of theirs. When Mum and I had the shops we would change the window displays weekly, it was amazing as to the amount of new people they would attract into our gift shop. Using props from home such as pieces of furniture to raise some heights and different levels or wrapping boxes and turning them into giant wrapped parcels for colour and pattern make for eye grabbing windows. Have fun and make your store more interesting , make it stand out on your high street. We have some beautiful vintage luggage at Cavania that make fantastic window props I will post some photos next week.

Simply Divine

I was pleasently surprised at how well the Simply Divine range is doing at the moment. I really enjoyed painting these designs and dreaming of owning such a pair of shoes. The range has 12 in the collection, you can view them all at Retailing approximately at £2.99 they make for a gorgeously girly card.

The scan of the original painting, painted on canvas.

The finished card with pearl lace foil and a hand tied bow, just simply divine darling.
